Kitchen Storage Ideas and Suggestions
Free up more space inside the kitchen cabinets by using special made inserts to hold items. There are wire racks available today that can help stack every day plates in to one easy pile inside of a cabinet. There are also inserts to install inside of a pan cabinet that can keep them organized as well.
Spice storage should be kept as far away from the stove as possible. Heat and steam can cause spices to go bad before their time. There are racks that were created just for spice jars. There are flat racks that can be hung on a wall or ones created to slide right into a kitchen drawer. If there is space on the inside of a cupboard door there are racks designed to hold spices there. These are usually placed on the inside of the cupboard and held in place with double sided tape. Spice jars that are not already labeled can easily be marked with a permanent black marker or with a label maker.
Kitchen drawers get crammed with everything from eating utensils to bag ties. Keeping everything in a place is easier with the help of organizers. Pick one drawer for keeping only eating utensils in. Measure the space of the drawer and purchase a plastic utensil inset. These keep each piece of silverware separate from the others in their own little slots. Large cooking utensils can be housed in a large decorative jar on top of the counter. These jars can be kept near the stove for quick and easy use.
Consider using a wrap station instead of a drawer to keep items like aluminum foil, plastic wrap and wax paper. These stations can hang right on the wall exactly like a paper towel holder does. Many of these food wrap racks will also incorporate enough space for a large roll of paper towels to be hung on the same station.
Kitchen towels can be kept in a pretty basket on top of a counter or on a shelf in a microwave cart. Rolling the towels into smaller sizes can help to keep many towels in the same basket.
These are just a few suggestions that you can incorporate into the kitchen to help save space along with using space saving kitchen canisters. Every body has a different kitchen so experiment with what works for you.
